3 weeks to a 30 minute run

It's just about at the end of week 2 of the 3 weeks to a 30 minute run program that I've been doing. For the program I run for about 30 minutes, 5 or 6 days a week. I was doing pilates for 2 hours every week for nearly half a year, but I didn't see ANY change, not a bit! Its too bad, because I like pilates much more than I like running--pilates is easier and less sweaty! But, since I want to see results, I think running is the way to go. I'm hoping to lose around 10 or 15lbs by Christmas, and I've lost 5 so far (yay!). Its not so much about the scale though, as much as it is about feeling healthier and taking care of my body, like I believe God calls us to do.  It has definitely been a challenge--I'm no athlete, and working out 6 days a week is more than I've ever done in my life--but  I feel a lot better. More energy, and a more positive attitude. Always a good thing!

  3. My thing is that I've given up caffeine. It's been so hard! But I'm proud to stay I've stuck with it for...*drum roll*...3 days! :) This is a huge accomplishment because I'm addicted to caffeine. I usually drink 2 coffees and 1 soda a day. Now I'm down to nothing. But so far, it actually hasn't been quite as bad as I was expecting...I've had one really bad headache, but that's been it. I need to start working out, too!

  4. Way to go!!! I know it must be really hard to cut back--bryan had the Hardest time with it, but once he got through the first few weeks, he didn't even crave it anymore--I can't even remember the last time he had caffeine now! As for me, i gave it up when he did, so he wouldn't be tempted by us having it in the house. i never drank it much anyways though--it messes with my arrhythmia too much and makes me feel bleh.

let me know when you start working out, we can keep each other accountable--long distance workoutbuddies!

  5. If losing weight is what you're looking to do, running will definitely aid in that more than Pilates. Pilates is great for toning and shaping, but it doesn't get the heart rate as elevated as aerobic exercise and therefore won't burn as many calories. Good for you for sticking to your plan!
